Step 1 - Guitar Cleaning Supplies
Paste Cleaner
This is an all in one product which cleans the dirt from the guitar as well as provides a coat protectant to the body. If there are any light swirl marks on the surface of the body it will buff those out. Think of it as a sort of car cleaner. Do not use this on cracks or open wood for it will damage the wood and make any crack a lot harder to repair. Apply sparingly and repeat if necessary.Water Based Cleaner: Polish
This is a product which makes the color more vibrant, and the shine more shiny. Make sure that the label is read so that it is known exactly what the product offers. Some will only offer shining while others will offer cleaning and shining at the same time. You can buy spray bottles and just bottles. Remember to apply it to the cloth and then rub it on. Apply sparingly and repeat if necessary.Silicon
I do not recommend applying a silicon product to the guitar, regardless of the condition. It is a deep penetrating product that can do a lot more harm than good. If you want to polish on top of the silicon, it’s going to be a really hard time to make it look nice.Water Based Cleaner: Shine Spray
This is a good all around product that will eliminate most smudges and grime on the guitar. Not to invasive and also has color enhancers to make your guitar look like new.Mineral Spirits / Naphtha (lighter fluid)
A strong alcohol that can be used to remove residue from stickers or tape. Use a cloth constantly flip it. We don’t want to start to smudge the sticky residue all around the guitar so flip frequently!3
